Note:
The following are notes that were taken at a Master Ho
seminar held several years ago in Chicago July
15 2000
Siu Lim Tao - all about the controlling,
that's why you spend 30 minutes to do it
Its all personal everything from fok, tan,
bong, you must find it
You should feel like you can't be moved, you
can't be pushed, the center should be at your naval, you
will know when you are centered.
The energy is even, it teaches you to learn
to control yourself - a way of learning every little step
3 times each - it evens out the control you
have to practice it 3 times because you going in your center
line.
Using different muscles when tan and fok
way, the 3 times you do it, is to even it out, its all about
how much muscle your using
The forms have to be stressed
It s there for anytime to punch out, what it
does is balance things out, the first is not tense, its
constantly balancing
Am I doing it right - nicely rooted, not
using any muscle, doing it slow, you feel you can't be
knocked over
Everything is control, control
No storage of energy no muscle, all bones
45 minutes is max 15-30, past this is a
waste of time
Timing, position, weight these are things
you should be concentrating on Sil Lim Tao, when doing the
form you just concentrate on the form itself.
Keep your concentration in here and now,
where it belongs
Simulate the punch to an arrow - its all
about timing and speed, he says its all arm, not in the legs
Bong sau is use to find the other person
140 to 120, the 140 must accommodate the
smaller person when training and 140 would learn to lighten
up and yes he will progress
Difficult way to do the punch you can
do it fast or slow, but with different outcomes no advantage
to punching it slow
Every punch should be effective when
practicing - he said than and fok are not the same as punch
and have different intentions
He stresses nonstop the perfection of the positioning, constantly thinking about
the bones
Siu Lim Tao - doesn't train with his eyes
closed, all you sense end up focusing on the eyes instead of
the hands
When you close the eyes you have to control
the closing of the eyes, then use a blindfold
Bong sau and tan sau isn't the shoulder, but
its the joint, and yes using the same joint
When you have the energy then do the form,
its best to do it when your feeling good
No elastic power from ding the form, you
have to do the other exercises to do elastic power such as
jumping the bench
During the form concentrate on the thing
that your working on, the breathing is all natural
Stress on the elbow moving the fok, tan,
etc, etc
When we do our form, that's our chi gong in
the form
Practicing and teaching for 40 year a little
history about ho Kam Ming
Difference between older and younger in
studying, when your older you can then grasp concepts, takes
longer when your older to make adjustments
Example of personalize for everything, he
said that's why we have different sized t-shirts
Example both sides getting feed back, when
controlling - you have to let then move a little in order to
control him as well, if he can't move you won't get anything
from it
Wu, tan, fok, the elbow is always in the
same area - elbow helps the wrist, the wrist helps the hand,
wrist side to forearm doesn't move
